Santee Smog Check ("we," "us"), also known as Magnolia Test Only Station, runs a STAR-certified test-only smog station and DMV registration desk at 8931 N Magnolia Ave, Santee, CA 92071. This page explains what information we collect when you book an appointment online, and how we use it. We keep it simple because our handling of your data is simple.
What we collect
- Your name and phone number — to book your appointment and reach you about it.
- Your email address — if you provide it, to send your booking confirmation and any updates about your appointment.
- Your mobile number for text messages — only if you check the SMS opt-in box, so we can text booking reminders and "your vehicle is ready" updates. See the SMS section below.
- Your vehicle details — the make, model, and year you enter for an appointment, so we're ready when you arrive.
What we do NOT collect
We do not take payments online — you pay in person at the station. We never collect or store credit card or other payment information through this website.
How we use it
- To schedule and prepare for your smog inspection or DMV visit.
- To email your booking confirmation and appointment updates.
- To contact you if we need more information to complete your inspection or paperwork.
When your vehicle passes its smog inspection, the certificate and inspection results are transmitted to the California DMV and Bureau of Automotive Repair as required by law. That reporting is a regulatory function of the smog program, separate from this website.
We don't sell your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run this site on our behalf — our hosting and database provider (Supabase), our email provider (Resend), and our text-message provider (Twilio) — solely so the booking, email, and SMS features work. We do not share your phone number with third parties for marketing, and no mobile information is sold.
Text messages (SMS)
We send text messages only to customers who check the SMS opt-in box when booking. With your consent we may text you appointment reminders and a "your vehicle is ready" notice. We do not send marketing texts. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not affect your bookings. Mobile numbers are never shared with third parties or sold, and are not shared with anyone for marketing purposes.
Data retention
We keep your booking records for as long as needed to serve you and to meet our record-keeping obligations. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
